Bluefin Tuna

Sharks

To fish for sharks (blue, porbeagle, shortfin mako and common thresher sharks) a Federal Highly Migratory Species Permit is required. The minimum size is 54 inches, straight fork length. For permits and current fishing regulations visit: hmspermits.noaa.gov or call 1-888-872-8862.

Atlantic Salmon

It is unlawful to angle, take or possess any Atlantic salmon from all Maine waters (including coastal waters). Any salmon incidentally caught, must be released immediately, alive and uninjured. At no time should the Atlantic salmon be removed from the water.

(1) Complete Maine Striped Bass Regulations, including the Special Kennebec Watershed Regulations

(2) A creel limit of 12 pollock per person per day that are under 19 inches total length is allowed for recreational anglers in Maine territorial seas.

(3) Anglers must use 14/0, 15/0, or 16/0 circle hooks.

(4) No bait with treble hook. No more than two treble hooks per lure. It is unlawful to use any hook other than a circle hook when using bait.
